Jesi has competed and achieved titles in Novice and Advanced AKC Rally Obedience. Whether you are interested in trying something new or preparing for competition we will help you get started. Topics we will cover will be loose leash walking\, how to read and perform signs\, how to fade treats\, and how to prepare for competition. This class is designed for beginners only. Dogs who sign up for this workshop should be used to participating in group classes and able to settle during lectures and/or waiting for their turn. It is suggested that your dog complete and pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen class prior to taking this workshop. \nIf your dog is not suitable for working in a group you can also audit the workshop and come by yourself! DESCRIPTION:In this 3 hour workshop\, guest trainer of Howling Moon Pet Care\, Jesi Kirk\, will introduce you to all things Cooperative Care. Cooperative Care is a dog training method that focuses on teaching dogs to actively participate in activities such as grooming\, handling\, and veterinary procedures. The goal is for your dog to be a willing participant in the process and for your dog to be allowed to “say no” if they experience anxiety or stress. You will be training your dog not just to listen to you\, but you will also be training yourself to listen to your dog. Jesi is a Fear Free certified groomer and trainer who is also a certified behavior consultant. During this workshop you will be introduced to strategies such as bucket game\, chin rest\, scratch boards\, as well as how to advocate for your pet. We will cover how to counter condition and desensitize your dog to it’s dislikes or triggers. DESCRIPTION:Join Dog Photographer\, Joanne Wetzel\, for an afternoon of learning all about pet photography as it pertains to taking great photos of your foster cats and dogs! We will tackle some of the most common foster issues when it comes to taking photos\, such as lighting\, focus\, getting the animal to pay attention to you / sit still\, cell phone camera settings\, and more. This class is only for current animal fosters at local shelters and rescues and is not open to the public as a photography class. SUMMARY:Vets to Vets 5K Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Join us on “The Cross-Country Course Track” at the WakeMed Soccer Park\, Cary\, NC to run\, jog\, walk\, or cheer- with or without your dog. This very unique fun event is branded for all types of participants with a specific focus to runners of all ages\, dog owners\, active military and veterans\, and fans of all kind. This unique track allows all participants & canines to experience both the woods and the open field. \n  \nRace check-in & day of event registration is at 9:00 AM. The race opening ceremony starts at 10:00 AM\, followed by the race. The event is located at 940 E. Chatham St.\, Cary\, N.C. Look for the signs to the Cross Country 5K Course Track. \n  \nThis fundraiser will make a difference for our local veterans with service dogs supported by Vets To Vets United\, Inc.\, a local non-profit 501(C)3 organization. We pair and train service dogs with local disabled veterans suffering from PTS\, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or other physical or mental service connected issues. After a 2 yr. training program\, these service dogs significantly improve their life by providing companionship and help them with their mental or physical disability. This also saves the life of a dog facing euthanasia by adopting the animal from a local animal shelter. This annual fund-raiser helps us to fund this challenge. \n  \nThere will be product vendors\, veteran organizations\, a DJ with great encouragement music\, snacks & water\, and fun activities for your dog. Bring your support fans to cheer you on & to have fun as well. An encouraging opening and closing ceremony is planned.
