Sorrel Robinson
Day Trainer & Group Class Instructor
Pronouns: (they/them/theirs)
Sorrel specializes in helping dogs overcome fear, reactivity, and frustration—challenges their own childhood dog faced. Sorrel’s approach is deeply informed by a biological sciences background, emphasizing using an understanding of learning and behavior to build confidence in dogs and owners. A big proponent of play, many of Sorrel’s training approaches involve game-like training exercises that build up engagement and desirable associations and behaviors.
Sorrel’s journey into dog training began in their youth, exploring the Appalachian mountain range’s northeastern foothills with their highly vocal and chronically overstimulated dog-reactive dog, Kira. Inspired by adventures and a love of animals, Sorrel eventually entered college dreaming of studying coyote behavior in the wild.
After graduating from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, Sorrel had a strong appreciation for ecological research and began working in Pennsylvania collecting data on wildlife. However, personal health challenges prompted a career pivot, and Sorrel began taking continuing education courses in dog training and eventually began accepting a small amount of canine clientele that, like Kira, needed help with Big Feelings.
In 2018, Sorrel relocated to Raleigh and transitioned to dog training full-time. In their free time, Sorrel enjoys activities that complements their love of dogs, such as hiking, paddling, and camping. Sorrel has two dogs currently, Solas and Gouda, the latter of which can often be found helping out with training at All Dogs Allowed.
